My favorite clothes.
My favorite store is American Eagle. I love the clothes because they're both cute and casual. A lot of the clothes have a beachy California feel. The theme of the clothes usually focuses around what season it is, so it's really never out of style at all. AE also sells jewelry, it's really cute and it never turns your finger green or anything like that. American Eagle also sells amazing perfume and it's always the perfect scent. Fresh and never too strong. I'm pretty much in love with American Eagle. Maurices is also my other favorite store. They have a plus-size section now which I LOVE. The clothes there always fit me perfectly and fits me the way I want them to fit, just right! The clothes are always in style and very cute. They're more business, cute casual type of clothes. You'll probably always see me wearing a pair of jeans and a cute t-shirt or a long-sleeved shirt. I also love the store Kohl's, it's cheap yet cute...perfect combination. Kohl's always has some good sales going on for their clothes which I love. My roommate works at Kohl's so she gives me friend coupons so I get even more of a discount on the clothes, gotta love it. Kohl's also has shoes, bed wear/kitchenware, cologne/perfume, jewelry...it has a lot of stuff for really low prices. The one store I can't stand is Gordman's, the store has some cute stuff but it's so scattered around and chaotic it's just hard to walk around and try to find something I'm looking for.
My weekend.
I loved having the extra day to relax. My last class was this one on Thursday so I left shortly after class got out. Thursday I just relaxed at home with my family and watched my brother at bowling practice, I started to feel really sick at the bowling alley so I went home. That night I was really cold and really hot at the same time. I wanted 15 blankets on top of me then a fan going at the same time...I knew something wasn't right. I had the same thing 3 weeks ago where I was cold and hot at the same time and I ended up having at 104 temperature that weekend. I didn't want to go through that again. But early morning on Friday around 1 a.m. I started vomiting. I basically had the flu all weekend. I had to work Saturday night and by then I was fine but I still had a really bad sore/scratchy throat and my eyes were bloody and yellow from throwing up so much and breaking blood vessels. Sunday morning I worked and I still had the bad sore throat and my eyes were still yellow and bloody. I'm feeling a lot better now, except that I still have the sore throat and my eyes haven't gone away yet...maybe I should get that checked. Good weekend huh?

Book Prices and Student Fees
I really didn't have a problem with my book prices at all, compared to what I've heard from everyone else, mine was a pretty reasonable price. I only had to pay $320 for my books this sememster. It's amazing how one little book can be $70...I don't get it. How can one book cost $200?? I've heard a lot of people had to pay over $500 for their books and they only got four of them! I didn't mind paying only that amount of money for my books, but when the student fees that I pay are more expensive then my books, that's just hard to believe and really stupid. I think student fee's are pointless and just a waste of money. I think it's stupid that we have to pay for things we don't even use at all. For example, I don't know why I'm paying for the Student Union fee when I hardly even go in the CSU. I understand some of these fees, the University needs help paying for things too, but I don't understand why they have to take a lot of our money away to pay for them. It's stupid to make people pay $400 for student fees when some of them transfer after a semester anyways. Student fee's are just stupid.

Big Brother.
I used to be addicted to the t.v. show "Big Brother." The more I watched, the more I would hate to be on the show. They're basically living in a fish tank...anybody can watch them and they are being watched all the time. I would really hate that. When the show isn't on, you can log on to ABC.com and click on the show Big Brother and you can actually watch them online what they're doing at that given moment of the day. I would get so sick of people watching me, knowing I couldn't do anything embarrassing or say the wrong thing because it would be all over the internet and people talking about it all the time. I can't imagine what would make people want to be watched like that all the time in that house, and living with that many people, that would suck. I know it's a lot of money, but to sell yourself short like that where you're being watched all the time and can't be yourself is just pretty low.
Technology Pros & Cons
I love technology. Even though sometimes it's a pain in the ass to get working, it makes a lot of everyday tasks go a lot faster. Take the computer for example, you can get on the Internet and find research for a paper or try to find that song that you've had in your head all day, and it will take about 10 minutes. Then of course, it will freeze on you if you do a lot of things on it at once.
I was driving back to campus with my mom yesterday (I live in New Ulm, 30 minutes away), and we were about 10 minutes into my drive when I realized I ...of course...left my cellphone at my house. I got so upset! My cellphone is basically my life...I have all my numbers in there and that night I had a lot of groups to meet with and of course they would all have to contact me by calling or texting me...yeah well they couldn't because I left my phone at home. It shocked me how much I rely on my cellphone. I can't believe I got that upset over something like that, but it sucked not having my cellphone with me. I was so relieved when I got it back and I had over 20 missed calls. Of course, before I left my house, I made sure I had socks along but NOPE can't double check that I have my cellphone with me or not! Of course.
So a lot of parts of technology are good, because it makes things go a lot faster; but it's never going to be perfect. Ever.

Gorgeous!
Fall is my favorite time of the year. The trees around campus are absolutely beautiful and the weather outside today is perfect! I love when trees turn that really pretty maroonish red/dark pink. Watching the trees change color and the leaves on the ground is so much fun. I love the fall weather because you can wear jeans and a sweatshirt and be just fine, it's not too hot. But when the weather is 90 degrees or higher, it's really hot to cool off; which is why I like the cooler weather better. You can always do something about being cold, like bundle up in your pajamas and your sweats, throw on a couple blankets, make some hot chocolate and sit by the fire and watch a movie. That would be my perfect winter night...now that's what I'm doing during Christmas break! But when it's 90 outside it sucks because you're of course going to be disgustingly uncomfortably HOT and there's not a lot you can do about being really hot. Just put skimpy clothes on and put your hair up and wear flip flops..basically all you can do. You can't run around naked...well I guess you could, there would just be a lot of consequences. So with that...GO FALL!

The Documentary - Michael Moore Hates America.
Even before seeing this film, I couldn't stand Michael Moore. The way he talks about America is just plain rude. If he doesn't like America or what America is doing then he should just leave! I love America, I love the freedoms we have to express whatever we want to, I don't understand why he puts down America so much. I understand that everyone has their own opinion, but when you're offending so many people by the things you say then you should keep your opinions to yourself, or analyze just exactly what you're saying. If he puts America down so much then obviously he shouldn't be here. A lot of people are upset about the things he is saying about America, and all of them are basically bullshit. He shouldn't force his opinions on people. To me he comes off as the kind of person who if you don't believe or follow what he is saying, then you're just stupid. Frankly I just don't like Michael Moore or approve at all of what he's saying about America.
Michael Moore Hates America - Editing
I think the way Mike edited this film was alright. Sometimes I wonder if he edited the film just to show how bad Michael Moore him and how he views him. He only really has people talking bad about Michael Moore or his followers liking what he says but then talks about how Moore should have treated him different in the interview when Mike asked that quesiton. He showed the clips of the followers of Moore saying that of course they like what Moore has to say, but then said that during the interview Moore should have addressed Mike's question, so in his little own way he still portrays Moore in a bad way. He didn't show anybody really liking what Moore had to say or defending him, and didn't have anyone saying they liked him and then sticking too it and not saying anything bad about Michael Moore and what he should be doing different.

Repremations are BS!
I loved that Penn & Teller video about Reparation. Nobody really confronts racism anymore, well they do, they just don't share their opinions much anymore. I am by no means racist what so ever, I am probably the least racist person I've ever met. For me, I am the type of person who won't say anything offensive around a different race. I get hesitant about saying the word black around black people, that's how non-racist I am. I'll usually say colored people or African Americans around ...blacks... Which I don't even know why I get that because they don't even hold back to say white people to us. In my Ethnic Studies class yesterday, we talked about different racist terms toward different ethnic groups. A lot of the terms I haven't even heard of, there were a couple terms that I have heard of but I have never and will never say them to anyone or about anyone. I would feel terrible saying those words, the only thing different about me and other races and ethnic groups are that are eyes are sometimes the same shapes, are languages could be different and have different accents and of course the skin color is usually different. I think everyone should be treated the same. As you can see, I'm not racist at all and I definitely support the video about Reparations, they are bullshit.

Debates
Yesterday we had a Critical Thinking paper due for my First Year Experience class. I wrote my paper on Abortion, and so did four other girls in the class. We could pick any controversial issue topic we wanted. There were topics such as legalizing marijuana, the war, the drinking age, anorexia, the smoking ban, cell life, health care, obesity and so on. We had to go around in a circle and tell everyone what topic we were doing and just tell what our paper was about the the opinions we had on it. After everyone told about their topic, we had the chance to debate someone on it. There was a girl and a guy who just went at it and debated everything the other person had to say, it was awesome to watch. I love watching people debate each other and hear other people's opinions about a specific topic. I am a very opinionated person but I'm the kind of person who won't debate or fight anyone about a topic because I don't want to offend anybody. I'm really hesitant towards what to say to someone with different beliefs to something, I don't want them to get mad or think bad of me. I think it's cool when people aren't afraid to express themselves and their beliefs, they just tell it like it is. But I get really annoyed with the people who think that whatever they believe in is right and if you don't think that then you're just stupid.
Hating Days of the Week.
I actually hate two days of the week. First I hate Mondays...I have four classes on Monday. Although, I have class from 9-9:50, 10-10:50, 2-2:50 and 4-4:50 so I do have a good break in between classes and then my friend Apryl and I hang out between classes because we have the same break! So I hate Monday's because I have a lot of classes, but I love hanging out with Apryl, too. It makes the day a lot better!
I also hate Sunday's, the day before Monday's....a whooolleee new week of classes starts over. Nothing really happens on Sunday's. Sunday's for me are just boring because you know the next day is a Monday and it sucks.

My professor's story this morning.
Today is Columbus Day and in my Ethnic Studies class, my professor decided to tell us a story about his old job back when he lived in Oklahoma while he was going to college. He was a telemarketer for Sears Venal Package...no idea what that is, but I think it's something to do with a house. ANYways, he was telling us about this friend, Shawn, that worked with him. He always came to work stoned and was always stoned when he called the clients. In between calls, he would talk to my professor. One day, he came to work REALLY stoned and had the stoner voice. To give you a little more insight, my professor is Indian and is very proud of that, I think it's really cool and it adds a little more something to the Ethnic Studies class that our professor has a background of Indian. So his friend, Shawn, says to him "Heeeyyy dude, you're Indian right?" My professor answers yes, and tells what tribe he's from. Shawn then says "Yeah, so this day (Columbus Day) has to be pretty hard for you being Indian and all. I think they should call it 'Stolen Land Day'." Ha ha I just thought that was so funny hearing a stoner talk about Columbus Day. What a great way to start out a class.
Acting Class This Morning (8th)
For my acting class we have to perform a two minute monologue in front of the whole class. You can pick the monologue you decide to perform. I chose a monologue from a play called 'Scuba Lessons' my character is Kelly and she is a CEO for a company. She and her friend Dan are set up by a mutual friend, Raul (he's gay). They meet their dates at the same place. She is a very energetic character with a bubbly personality, just like me. It was really easy to relate to this character and present this monologue the way she would. All of the sentences and the full monologue came so natural for me, I knew exactly how to act it out. My professor for this class usually critiques your acting after you present the monologue the first time, then you present it again for a final grade. The first time I presented my monologue she loved it and didn't even have me change anything about it. I present it my second time for a final grade on Friday. Anyways, all of the other monologues have been really good, but this morning a guy named B.J. gave a monologue from the movie 'Boiler Room'. It was amazing! His character was a big C.E.O for a stockbroking company and he played it sooo well. He was really intimidating and he played the part just soo well. He changed his monologue last night and memorized a whole new one in 3 hours. I was so impressed by the memorization, it was about 3 minutes long and he memorized the whole thing, including actions, all in one night!
Changing an illness.
If I could change one illness, I would change the chicken pox. It wouldn't be contagious, but you would have to have at least one case of the chicken pox when you were young so it gets out of your system. I would have a lot of medications you could take to get rid of it smoothly and fast. Also, if you took the medication, it would limit the amount of the pox (bumps) you would actually get, and the size they are! So if you took the medication, you could make the pox bigger and only get 10 of them. Or make them smaller and have a bunch of pox. You would only get it for 3 days. To get people to stop itching, if you scratched the bump, it would just give you two more. So for every pox you scratch and break open, you get two more pox.

What is age to me?
To me, age is just a number. Just subtract the year it is now from the year you were born, and that's how old you are. I'm 18. Everybody gets so excited when when turn 18...I don't know why. I mean, yeah, you're an adult now...but sometimes that's not always a good thing. I couldn't wait to be treated like an adult when I was younger. Now, everything I say can be used against me and is always analyzed. When you're 18, you get to gamble, buy cigarettes, buy porn, and you're tried as an adult when you're in court. None of that to me seems fun. Of course, I went out to Jackpot for my 18th birthday and it was fun for a little while, because I wasn't gambling off my own money ha ha. I just think it's easy to get addicted to it as it is to get addicted to all of those things - smoking, gambling, porn, violence. It's o.k. being an adult, but it's not the greatest. There are a lot more responsibilities, and people expect a lot more from you now. I don't think anything fun really happens as you get older. I remember being excited to get my license and my own car when I was 16, but I got in a huge accident right after I got my license and now it's on my record for another year. It sucks having all of these responsibilities, that's why I don't think fun to get older and have more responsibilities. Right now that I'm 18, nothing is really going to happen until I get to be 21...then of course I can drink. But then it's o.k. in people's eyes to get drunk, then you have the drunk driving thing to watch out for and even if you have too much to drink and you're over the limit...then you have something else to watch out for. I don't think a lot of the things that come with getting older are important, some of them just plain suck.
